Lecturing

'Tell me - I forget
Show me - I remember
Involve me - I understand.'

Years ago, my PhD supervisor, the distinguished human physiologist, Professor Rainer Goldsmith, had this excellent maxim, framed on his office wall.

I am keen to inspire students to acquire a good understanding of the fundamental principles of the field.  I aim to foster an ethos of intellectual rigour that is also socially supportive and enjoyable.

I've taught at a number of universities, including King's College London, University College London, Oxford University and BNU.

I also give invited talks and seminars.  Prior engagements have included 'Hearts and Minds - Psychology at Work and the Moderation of Stress' at Hoare's Bank and 'Rules of Attraction' at the Dana Centre, London.
‘…teaching as much as possible by arousing and stimulating exploratory interest rather than by regimented instruction, is not only biologically sound but yields promising results.‘
